I am going to be Marie Antoinette for Halloween this year, I have a great outfit but I need to figure out the hair...
I don't want to use a wig because I have really thick big hair, so it should be easy to make a fun updo.
Problem: I have black hair...anyone have any ideas to how I can get somewhat white hair?
You could powder it that is what they used to do or you could get some of that spray and go to a hair dresser. Have them do an updo for you and then spray the visible parts.

I know, I know, its one day till Halloween, but its too late to buy a wig, so how can I make my friend's hair look like Marie's??
Her hair is one inch past shoulder length, black, and she says "frizzy."
Please help us! We'd love to win the costume contest.

Good luck at the contest!

Marie Antoinette
Dear Marie Antoinette,
Time passes by
Oh so fast
And the wind in your hair
Is like something you can’t dare
To unravel so quickly
Glowing songs in the nightlights bending shadow
Like sage on a fire it burns through the stars
The sleeves of this dress are riding on the windy waves
To wash away your painful scars
I didn’t mean to hurt you
I tore off your wig and saw your hair
What beautiful hair it was
Darling Marie Antoinette
I didn’t mean to hurt you
Hurt you
Like I did
I didn’t mean to hurt you
Hurt you
Like I did
Sweet Marie Antoinette
What a beautiful smile
And your eyes sparkle blue
Like an angels smile
Oh what can you do?
If you don’t love me anymore
Don’t fly away leaving me stranded
I didn’t mean to hurt you
Like I did when I was young
I didn’t mean to hurt you, and if it were up to me
You would have never felt so free
Gorgeous girl, can’t you see
That my heart isn’t there with you
I guess it isn’t here with me
Either
Time and time again I ask for you,
Oh Marie Antoinette can’t you see
That it’s so hard without you here
In my arms
Away from it all
But I didn’t mean to hurt you
Hurt you
The way I did so long ago, please forgive my debt, and put away this dark fire
Marie Antoinette
that was great! well done

I have shoulder length dark brown hair. I was thinking about a wig, but they're soo expensive x]
Thanks!!
Marie wore a wig. You could try purchasing cheap hair extensions and then wrapping them around your head. That might work.

it would help if you had any ideas except for a wig.
I saw that too. If you put your hair in sponge rollers you should be able to do it. Backcomb your whole head and then pull it up to how you want it. Then use bobby pins in pairs to make Xs to hold it up. Finish with a maximum hold hairspray. Good luck!

the days when white wigs in gray / white were worn, and powder etc...when did this tradition start and why was it important or desired ?
Because many of those wigs were made of wool. British court magistrates still wear them. It's easier to maintain when you wear it white or gray.

To create a Marie Antoinette look for Halloween, use light-colored makeup over the entire face, apply pink blush over the apples of the cheeks, and add a touch of red lipstick. Wear a white curly wig to top off the whole costume with helpful tips from a certified aesthetician in this free video on makeup.

Couldn't say. But I believe now she's six feet under.

It's only possible if you have really long, thick hair... If you do, try curling the top layer of your hair and pinning it up over a styrofoam block or something like that. You'll have to find a size that works... Use a TON of hairspray. Then put the rest into pipe curls and let it hang. Or you could put it all up and just leave a few curls out. To get the wig color just use a temporary dye in white or light blue. I would practice this a couple of times before the night of, because it might work better for you not to curl your top layer and etc.
