I am going to be Marie Antoinette for Halloween this year, I have a great outfit but I need to figure out the hair...
I don't want to use a wig because I have really thick big hair, so it should be easy to make a fun updo.
Problem: I have black hair...anyone have any ideas to how I can get somewhat white hair?
You could powder it that is what they used to do or you could get some of that spray and go to a hair dresser. Have them do an updo for you and then spray the visible parts.
I know, I know, its one day till Halloween, but its too late to buy a wig, so how can I make my friend's hair look like Marie's??
Her hair is one inch past shoulder length, black, and she says "frizzy."

Easy, it's a piece of cake, for everyone, even revolting peasants... but seriously. Get a white wig, put the hair up, the more hair in the wig the better. Use a tiara, pick a long hoop style dress and wear a sash with a fleur de lis pin on it. rinestone gawdy or CZ gawdy jewelery, apply white face paint to establish a white pancake face and apply a black mole and some red to the cheeks, maybe blue eye shadow. Or wear a dress a few sizes too tall and too big, stuff arms and torso, and hide your head in the chest area, get a plastic head adorn with makeup and wig as above, attach it to your stuffed arms. hide your arms in the body of the oversized dress. Born constume with pin and sash as above. Bon chance!
Most costumes I've looked at are made with shiny fabrics that don't look real. This Halloween costume is going to dub as Renaissance Faire garb.
Make your own! If you can sew a straight line, it's really not that hard. Stay with natural fibers (cotton, linen, wool). Synthetics trap the heat, and you do not want that at Faire, unless you want to get the attention of that cute EMT in the ambulance.

Don't go with the commercial patterns; they won't fit right, and are way more complicated than the more authentic patterns... (I've tried both, the authentic way was much, much easier...)
